Every private security officer Vision Security deploys in Toronto holds an active PSISA security guard licence. Vision Security holds the corporate PSISA agency licence. Private security mandates additionally include a separate confidentiality agreement, a senior account manager, and access controls limiting client information to need-to-know.
Insurance & trust
Vision Security carries $5,000,000 commercial general liability and full WSIB coverage in Ontario. Confidential clients are protected from name disclosure on COIs where possible — generic certificates can be issued.

What's the difference between private security and commercial security?
Private security serves individuals, families, estates, family offices and confidential mandates rather than commercial buildings or events. The selection of officers, documentation standards, confidentiality requirements and reporting paths are all different. Vision Security operates a separate private security track for these mandates.
Are your private security officers PSISA-licensed?
Yes. Every private security officer holds an active PSISA security guard licence issued by the Ministry of the Solicitor General. Ontario law does not allow private security to be performed by anyone unlicensed.
How discreet is your private security service?
Officers can be deployed in plain clothes (suits, business casual) or in uniform depending on the client's preference. Reports are limited to the named client contact, NDAs are standard, and our private security operations are managed separately from commercial operations.
Can you cover a private event at my home?
Yes. We routinely cover private dinners, weddings and milestone events at residences in Forest Hill, Rosedale, Bridle Path and the Oakville/Burlington shoreline. Officers are dressed to the event's standard, briefed on the guest list, and supervised by a named operations contact for the evening.
Do you provide private security during travel?
Yes. We can post officers at the residence while principals are away, provide patrol coverage of multiple properties, handle deliveries, and coordinate with alarm and concierge systems. Reports are issued daily to the principal or their assistant.
Can you handle short-notice private security?
Yes. Private security clients receive priority dispatch routing. In cases involving separations, sudden travel, post-incident standbys and confidential transitions, an officer can be on site typically within 4 hours.
How is private security pricing structured?
Rates depend on the discretion required, dress code, length of mandate and selection criteria. Standard private security mandates run $35–$60 per officer-hour in Toronto. Senior close protection details are quoted separately.
Do you sign NDAs for private security?
Yes. NDAs are standard for every private security mandate. We can sign client-specific NDAs as well as our internal confidentiality agreements that bind every officer assigned to the file.

If a quote is well under the low end, ask to see the agency's licence number, insurance certificate and training records before contracting. Cheap usually means cut corners somewhere.
The risk of hiring the cheapest security agency
When a bid comes in well below market, the savings are usually being generated somewhere illegitimate. The most common shortcuts:
- Unlicensed guards. Officers without active provincial licences working under another guard's name. If anything goes wrong on site, the legal liability lands on the client.
- Insurance gaps. COIs that look real but expire mid-contract, or commercial general liability limits well below what a prudent property owner would accept.
- No supervision. No site visits, no log reviews, no named supervisor. Officers go ungoverned and post orders quietly stop being followed.
- Cash-only payroll. Officers paid under-the-table without WSIB or CNESST coverage — illegal and a direct liability transfer to the client if an officer is injured.
- National call-centre dispatch. Overnight calls go to a generic answering service that just takes a message. By the time anyone responds, the situation has escalated.
Ask any agency for: agency licence number, $5M COI naming you, training records, supervisor schedule and a 24/7 dispatch number that rings to a real person. If they can't produce all five, walk away.
